Wanted to let you know what a great time I had on the Italy trip. Your itinerary resulted in a wonderful mix of "big city" and "small village" stops which allowed me to experience the real Italy. Traveling in the off-season was ideal, and the weather was excellent. The trip was virtually stress-free—all we had to do was show up! The itinerary allowed us the flexibility to go on the pre-planned tours, venture out on our own, or explore with others in our group—which we chose to do on several occasions. We loved the walking tours, the gelato on every corner, and sharing highlights and a bottle of wine at the end of the day with our group in the hotel lounge. We appreciate the many things you did, both big and small, to make the trip fun and memorable. When you're ready to go to Spain, we are there! Having traveled all over the world for business, and having taken my family throughout the world in traveling, I had certain trepidations about going with a group. The fact that my sister and brother-in-law, as well as my brother-in law's brother and his wife were going made the decision that much easier.
The strange thing is that we separated from family and went with other members of the group which made the trip all that much more interesting and enjoyable. We enjoyed meeting the people of the group, and doing things with them. There was not one person with whom we would not travel again.
The transportation and accommodations, being prearranged by yourself, were wonderful. In the past, I have used Eurrail passes. However, having transportation arranged was truly a life saver. No lugging of suitcases to the train station, and onto the train, but having a bus available at the hotel was fantastic. The driver, Hussain (from Croatia) was courteous, efficient and SAFE. I was so glad that we were in his care. He was such a nice person, and everyone felt thoroughly safe, and enjoyed his company. The bus was immaculate, and the stops along the route for lunch and "necessities" were of great help.
Initially I was somewhat hesitant to take the excursions. As I said, I have been all over the world, and have never felt a need for tours and tour guides. I mean, what about all of the tour books available today? Well, in truth, I was wrong. The sidetrips that you arranged were wonderful, and the one regret I have is that we did not avail ourselves of every one. They were inexpensive, they were thorough, they were educational, and they were enjoyable. I regret being so "cheap, thrifty, etc." that I did not partake of them all. Next time I will be somewhat less hesitant to part with my kids inheritance!
As we did not leave from San Francisco like the rest of the group, but rather from our home of Billings, Mt, I appreciate the effort that you spent with the airlines to change our itinerary so that we could meet you all in Atlanta. That was perfect for us and allowed us to fly home from Rome without going through San Francisco. That saved us time and money!
The trip was as laid-back, or as active as one chose. It was relaxing and enjoyable. It was picturesque and just a great time!
I have to say that I would be glad to go on your future trips. I would hope that some of those people on this trip were in attendance on the next. The people, as well as the transportation and the locations, made this a monumental time of my life.

The trip to Greece that you planned and arranged for our group of 25 was tremendous. I’ve never been on a group tour before this trip, and was a little bit reluctant because I was a single traveler. But I’d do it again in a heartbeat. I know that a lot of work and planning was put into the trip, because I didn’t have to do a thing but show up. You kept everything running smoothly throughout the entire time. It was so enjoyable not to have to worry about how to get from place to place or what event was coming up next as it was all planned and organized ahead of time. You kept us well informed along the way and gave us lots of optional side-trip ideas for each city we visited. November 2008 Dear Scott, Just a short note to say how much I enjoyed our trip to Greece. I think you provided just the right mix of structure and free time. Transportation and lodging were taken care of, leaving us free to discover Greece on our own, take advantage of some or all of the side excursions, or a mix of the two, which is what we did. It's always a little stressful, traveling with a new tour group for the first time, but the fact that you had many returning travelers made us believe that we were going to be in good hands. Also, getting together with some of the potential travelers beforehand was very helpful. We had a great time, and I would certainly travel with Vertical Horizons Travel again.
